St. Patrick's Day FUN!

On Monday, we celebrated St. Patrick's Day.  The kids came in to find that my friend, Jameson O'Malley (a leprechaun) had left them all a green chocolate coin in their buckets.  Later in the day we made pots of gold and wrote about who is worth more than gold to us. Finally, we had leprechaun punch! Jameson gave me his old family recipe.  While we drank our punch, we danced and partied!!!

WACKY!

Last week we celebrated Dr. Seuss in one fun-filled day! We even had a visit from Cat in the Hat and he read "Green Eggs and Ham" to us.  Below are some pictures from the day.

I was gone last week for a few days and one of my favorite people, Jessica Hewitt, was here.  She said the kids did an excellent job.  I am VERY proud of them!

I will be sending home the unit 11 check up and the geometry test today.  For the most part, I was happy with how the kids did. The Unit 11 test will be on Friday and I sent home a corrected fraction pretest today.  The fraction test will be on Friday.

Book orders are due on March 19th.  I will be sending April book orders out after spring break.

There is a 1:35 dismissal on Friday and then.... SPRING BREAK!

My wacky photo-bombers!

The morning directions... something is odd...

The kids came in to find the room WACKY! They had to find the weird things and write sentences about them.

All of us with Cat in the Hat!!!

We got to use the first graders photo booth.

Editing Eye

Today we began the process of learning how to edit our writing.  We have talked before about checking for capitals and periods but, now we are talking about spelling.  Using Brady S.'s writing, we went through our five steps of spell check editing:
1. Check with yourself
2.  Check the Word Wall
3.  Ask one neighbor
4.  Check your student notebooks
5. Last resort- Check with the teacher

The kids did an awesome job with these steps.  Their writing is improving everyday!

Field Trip money and permission slips are due tomorrow (March 7th).  Let me know if this is a problem for any of you as soon as possible.

On Tuesday, we will be celebrating Dr. Seuss! The whole day will be dedicated to him.  I will be sending home a note about this either today or tomorrow.

I will be gone for two and a half days next week.  Wednesday morning I will be in meetings and then on Thursday and Friday I will be in Springfield at a conference.  My very good friend, Jessica Hewitt, will be here for me.  I will have my phone and I will be checking email. I also told the kids I will be calling her every 30 seconds to make sure things are going well:)  Let me know if you need anything.

The fun fair is next Saturday from 11-3 at the high school.

Tomorrow, we have the Unit 10 test in  Fundations.  It is also the last day of the quarter and report cards will go home a week from today.
