And the Award Goes to...

Yesterday, we had our awards ceremony for the year.  I explained to each of them why they are receiving the award and then we gave each of them a special salute for their hard work.  Afterwards, we drank apple cider and had cookies.  I thought long and hard about each award and I gave them the one that I felt best fit them this year.

Single Digits

We are down to 9 more days of school after today! We completed the math portion of the MAP test this morning and tomorrow we have science then..... DONE! Tomorrow, we also have our FINAL Fundations test (unit 15).  Next Tuesday and Wednesday, we will have our final fact fluency checks.  Tomorrow, they will turn in their final formal pieces of writing.  We are so close to the end and I am starting to get really sad that I have to let these awesome kids move on.  But, they are ready!

On Wednesday afternoon, we will be having a celebration! That day will be the conclusion of our rigorous work and it will be a time to PARTY! The kids will be given awards and we will toast with sparkling cider!

On June 2nd, we will be heading to Krape Park.  I have received most of the permission slips back (thank you!). If you volunteered to bring something, I will be sending home a reminder with your kiddo next week (again, thank you!).

3rd grade! WOOHOO!

It is official! They are all going to third grade in 12 days! I, however, for the first time since this group of kids hit kindergarten, will not be accompanying them.  I am awfully sad to leave them, but they are more than ready for the next step.  Here are their official photos and some from the last few speeches.
