13 More Days...

This week has been AMAZING! WE have had a lot of fun with the speeches and with ICE CREAM! I had the best time taking the kids to Third Street Station.  I think we should do it everyday!!!  Also, we only have four more speeches left for today.  On Monday, I will have the verdict on whether they are going to 3rd grade right now.  As of now, I want to keep them all in second, so I can have them for another year (for some of them that would mean 3 years with me).

Speeches Have Begun...

We began the 3rd grade speeches yesterday afternoon and continued them this morning . We are about half way done and they are doing sooooooooooo good! I am very impressed with each speech I have heard.  They are all very unique to the student giving them.  This morning we ended the day's speeches with Brady S.  He had the kids chanting "I will pass!" over and over and then they formed a line and marched through the classroom continuing the chant.  As they walked, they picked up a cookie in Pec colors that also said "I will pass!"  I can't wait to hear the second half of these speeches!!!

Field Trip Pictures

We had an amazing time on Friday at the Museum of Science and Industry.  Thank you so much to all of the parents that were kind enough to join us.  The day went fairly smoothly and the kids enjoyed themselves.

Final Field Trip Reminders...

Some of you are probably SO over me saying these things on repeat but, I just want to make sure we are all good to go for tomorrow, so bear with me!

1. WEAR BUMBLEBEE SHIRTS!
2. Arrive no later than 7:20 a.m. We will be taking off by the doors that we come in and leave from daily.
3. Remind kids to stay with their assigned chaperone at ALL times.
4. Bring a lunch that is fully disposable in the bag that is being sent home tonight. (chaperones included)
5. Students need to be picked up no later than 4:20 p.m.  If we are not back yet, hang tight.  Traffic and any other unforeseen things could occur.  But, make sure that you are at the school at 4:20 p.m.
6.  If you are coming on the field trip and plan to take your kiddo home with you from the museum you MUST sign a sheet that I will have ready for you.
7.  If anything comes up or there is an emergency, my number is 815-222-3780.  I will have it on and ready to go all day.
8.  Lunch is early.  We will be providing snacks/juice on the way back.
9.  You can only bring electronics if you returned the blue sheet.
10. Feel free to bring things to do on the bus (notebooks, crayons, books). They will stay on the bus while we are in the museum.
11.  Do not bring your assignment notebook, folder or anything else that you don't want to take on the bus with you.  We will only be entering the school to use the bathroom before we leave and if we need to, when we get back.
12.  When you pick up your child at 4:20 p.m. please make sure that I know you have them before you leave.
13. Again... get them to school by 7:20 a.m. and pick them up at 4:20 p.m.
14. WE ARE GOING TO HAVE SOOOOOO MUCH FUN!

WHAT A WEEK! (already)

This week is already feeling like a crazy one! I am sending home a reminder sheet about the field trip today.  It includes some essentials about the day.  If you are a volunteer, you will be getting some information the night before and the morning of the field trip.  Also, every kid will have a bracelet on that has my phone number so, if by some crazy chance that they get lost, someone can call me and I can get them.  If you have any questions at all about the field trip, please ask! It is going to be a long exhausting day, but it will be REALLY fun, too!

We made pancakes last week after reading about a girl that made pancakes out of her imagination/dreams.  It was a very interesting book.  The kids seemed to enjoy it and it was a nice break from the routine.

Last week we started writing about realistic fiction.  Today, we began to take our pre-writing and make it into a rough draft.

Wednesday, May 7th- Early dismissal at 1:35

Friday, May 9th- Field trip (arrive at school at 7:20 am and get picked up at 4:20 pm)

Monday, May 12th- 3rd grade persuasive speeches due.  We will spend the week presenting them

Wednesday, May 14th- Trip to 3rd Street Station

Monday, May 19th- Sumner park in the afternoon

Friday, May 30th- Track and field day (lunch will be provided)

Monday, June 2nd- Field trip to Krape Park (info will come home next week
